Maintenance Schedule

A look at the routine work behind every maintenance plan — the daily, weekly, monthly, and longer-cycle tasks that keep your site secure, fast, and healthy.

Maintenance is mostly invisible — which is the point. Here’s the routine that runs in the background so you don’t have to think about it.

Daily

  • Run full site backups
  • Monitor website uptime
  • Run basic security scans

Weekly

  • Check for and apply available updates to WordPress, themes, and plugins
  • Clear site caches
  • Review the site visually to confirm proper display and function
  • Sync and validate custom design elements and layout libraries
  • Confirm SSL certificates are active and valid

Monthly

  • Remove spam, trash, and unused media files
  • Review and clean up inactive plugins and themes
  • Review security logs and recent activity
  • Check for broken links and error pages (e.g. 404s)

Quarterly

  • Perform a general site health audit
  • Review search performance and mobile usability
  • Analyze site speed and loading performance
  • Review admin user accounts and roles for accuracy and security

Semi-annually

  • Optimize the database for better performance
  • Review the effectiveness of currently installed features and tools
  • Test the backup system and confirm the restore process works

Annually

  • Review all active subscriptions and licenses (where applicable)
  • Review site policies and legal pages for accuracy
  • Check compatibility with recent WordPress changes and server updates
  • Evaluate any custom code for continued relevance or updates
